New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1946. First American Edition. Near Fine. First American edition, first printing. Bound in publisher's tan cloth with spine stamped in brown; lacking the dust jacket. Near Fine with light toning and dust-soiling, former owner name stamped to front free endpaper, pages toned and with a few light brown stains and creased corners. A nice copy.
Synopsis
Born in Algeria in 1913, Albert Camus published The Stranger –now one of the most widely read novels of this century–in 1942. Celebrated in intellectual circles, Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. On January 4, 1960, he was killed in a car accident.
