About This Item
Garden City, NY: Doubleday & Company, Inc, 1974. First Edition. First? Printing. Hardcover. Good/good. 24 cm, 412 pages. Illus. with 32 pages of plates, index, inscription and ink notation on half-title. Signed by the author. Small tear to front endpaper at bottom spine, small tear and sticker residue to DJ. DJ somewhat worn and soiled. Autobiography of a President's son, from childhood, on to West Point (from which he graduated on D-Day), and then to a political and diplomatic career whose privileged character is frankly acknowledged by the unassuming Eisenhower. This is also an inside, predictably uncritical look at the Eisenhower years and White House personae, but the figure who looms most imposingly throughout the story is of course Ike himself. Gift card laid in describing how the daughter met Eisenhower and got the book signed to "Dad. "
