Chicago: A. Flanagan Company Blue hardcover cloth binding with black impression of horses, decorations, and title. Rubbed edges, bumped corners with significant wear bottom RH corner, boards showing through corner. White spot about 1" long on spine where it looks like a sticker was removed. School name and 1903 date on fep, soiled endpapers and several marks. Title page has been torn and repaired with tape. Smudges throughout, some chips bottom of several pages. Hinge cracked inside back cover. 91 pages. Binding secure and tight. Ads in back. Title page illus and chapter decorations. Originally published by the American Humane Education Society in 1893 to continue the preachings of humane treatment of horses in story form as done with Black Beauty. This is the Home and School Series for Young Folks edition. When a man learns to treat his work horses with care, things improve on his farm.. Illus. by Illustrated. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
