London: Simms and M'Intyre, 1852. Book. Very good condition. Hardcover. Early edition. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. 240 pages of text. Original hardcover binding with publisher's printed paper-covered boards; moderate wear, soiling with a few scuffs. Preserved in archival mylar. The rear endpaper is lacking. About a dozen pages have a small crease to the top corner. About a dozen pages are uncut and unopened. Originally issued as a two volume set in 1851, it was separated into two works and issued separately and made available as single volumes (see Sabin 37321). This is the first edition of the separate volume issue, published as number IV of The Bookcase series. Rare in publisher's cloth..
