London: Ward, Lock, and Co., [N.d., 1890s].. 8vo. xx, 549, (1), (6) pp. Publisher's blue cloth, gilt lettering and decoration to the spine and upper cover, later gift inscription to the verso of the frontispiece. Frontispiece plus 6 plates including two folding maps and a folding chart. Tanning to the spine, else very good. Cf. Freeman, 279 for the first of these Ward, Lock and Co. editions issued in 1890. This copy in the variant blue cloth and with the gilt to the upper cover removed in the post 1900 editions by this publisher.
