Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1872. First edition thus. Hardcover. Near Fine. 8vo. [9], 12-255, [3] pp. Orange cloth with gold lettering and black decorations on the front board and spine. Coated brown endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with a frontispiece and with nine plates by Augustus Hoppin. BAL 9561. A new and enlarged edition, with every story but one previously printed by Hurd and Houghton: "Some Lessons from the School of Morals". A lovely example. A name dated 1872 on the first blank leaf and on the title page.
