Engraved frontis + 11 plates with 11 flaps) lifting to show scene of virtue as engraved by Wright or Armstrong after the drawings by W.G.(William Grimaldi). STACEY GRIMALDI's copy with his bookplate to pastedown. 174x102mm [=page size] half tan roan gilt on wide raised bands.Spine compartments floral gilt and bands blind tooled,marbled sides.(leather sl.rubbed/tips sl.worn) Frontispiece of a man in a suit of armour + Titlepage + Dedication leaf + (v)-vii (=Preface signed S.G.) + (viii)+ xii (=Blank + halftitle leaf +contents) + 1-92pp. Some tissue guards foxed but plates and text unaffected and clean. Osborne 418 Muir 797 *NOT IN MONTANARO. The rear paper wrap originally issued (not here present) says: "The Proprietor of the present Work thinks it necessary to state, that it was written by a Gentleman, who two years ago, compiled one on a similar plan for Young Ladies, called THE TOILET; a Third Edition of which having been called for, the compilation of a Work on a similar plan for Boys was requested, and the present SUIT OF ARMOUR is offered as the result .. The Drawings were kindly given by an Artist of eminence."
