About This Item
Copenhagen: P. G. Philipsens Forlag, 1890. First Edition. Very Good. First edition of one of the earliest modernist novels, in the original Norwegian language. Bound in publisher's original red cloth boards stamped in gilt. Very Good with light lean to binding, fading to the spine, light staining to cloth and short splits to the ends of the outer spine joints. Pages toned, former owner name inked to half-title apge and some very light pencil brackets to margins. A work hailed as the literary opening of the 20th century--a semi-autobiographical and psychological-driven novel depicting the author's impoverished life on the streets of Kristiania (modern-day Oslo).
