About This Item
This is an original photograph taken by Don Harmon--it is perhaps the most famous photograph ever taken of Lake Louise, in Banff National Park, Alberta.
Don Harmon (1917-1997) was the son of Byron Harmon (1876-1942), an American photographer who pioneered the art of photographing the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Don became a highly successful landscape photographer in his own right, becoming the first landscape photographer to commercialize his collection of Rocky Mountain photos, which were mostly captured on 4" x 5" transparency film. When he died, his daughter Carole opened a gallery and kept the business going, but that gallery is now closed.
Harmon titled this photo 'Lake Louise', but it is also commonly known as 'Sunrise on Lake Louise'.
It is 14" wide and 11" high.With the mat, it is 16 1/2" x 14".
The mat glue has dried out and it has come off the mat. Harmon signed the mat.
It was purchased in Banff in August 1964 and it still in its original wrapper.Aside from a tiny crease at the extreme top right corner, it is in pristine condition.
