About This Item

London: Military Book Society, 1968. 209 pp, 8 3/4" H. B&w photos, reproductions, maps. "A rather different view (of the Crimean War) may be taken after reading these remarkably cheerful and totally unaffected letters of Geroge Lawson, a young staff assistant-surgeon who joined up at the outbreak of war in March 1854. This book tells the tale, not in terms of tactics and battles, but of the experiences and observations of a young medico, fresh to his profession and 'full of surgical ardour'." Small bump to corners of boards, light wrinkling at top/bottom of spine, light toning to the edges of the text block. Dust jacket is complete with edge wrinkling, a few small chips, moderate rubbing, light soiling, light stain to front panel, browning to flap-folds, now protected in removable mylar sleeve.. Not Signed. Hard Cover. Very Good-/Fair.
