New York: F. J. Huntington, 1866. Fifth edition. Hardcover. Fair. 12mo. viii, 9-484 pages, 8 pages of publisher advertisements. Frontispiece illustration and three more illustrations in text all by Winslow Homer. Front hinge is broken and partially glued. Rear hinge is cracked. Signature pulling loose from the text block pages 315-335. Persistent damp stains to the lower text edges. Light edge and shelf wear to the cloth binding. Contemporary inscription of "Mrs. Ann Miller, Liberty County, MO" written on the front paste down. Her name is written on page 99 and on page 484. A fair copy only.
