London: Humphrey Milford (For the British Academy). Good+ with no dust jacket. 1914. First Edition. Hardcover. Burgundy boards with bright gilt titling to the spine. Corners a little 'crumpled' and traces of white no's removed from near the foot of the spine. Ex- Reference Library with relatively minimal library markings = stamps/removed labels to the front plain endpapers. A small stamped green 'C' and green 'smudge' on the Title page. A large oblong green stamp on the reverse of the Title page o/w the rest of the book is UNMARKED. Overall Good plus to Very Good. Page fore -edges browning. (cxxiv) + 347 pp. 2 large fold-out Genealogical Tables and fold-out Map of the Honour of Denbigh. The first book published in this important series. The contents are : - The Introduction = 'Sketch of the History of the Honour'; 'Kindreds and Villages'; 'Wood, Waste and Pasture'; 'Agriculture'; 'Rents and Services'; 'Officers and Agents'; 'The Unfree Population'; 'English Tenurial Arrangements'; 'The Urban Population'; 'Note on the Mss'; Genealogical Tables, Map of the Honour of Denbigh. This is followed by the LATIN Text = 'Dominium de Dynbiegh' with footnotes, etc. (and finishes with) Index Locorum, Index Rerum, & Index Personarum. Overall despite its status as an Ex-Lib copy this is a Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. ; The British Academy.
