Dark red cloth, stamped in blind and gilt, dark grey topstain, in original dust jacket; plain endpapers; [x],303,[1],4pp; 4-page publisher's catalogue at rear, publisher's ads to rear and rear flap of jacket; frontispiece. Straight and tight, though rubbed, endpapers discolored, minor foxing: Very Good. Jacket unclipped (priced 7/6), sunned at spine, rubbed at edges with small loss and chips at head and tail, tapestains from previous repair attempts visible at verso: Good or better.

First trade edition of Conrad's last, unfinished novel about Napoleon. Preceded by a deluxe limited edition of 377 copies, issued by Doubleday, Page. EHRSAM 2277.

Synopsis

Suspense: A Napoleonic Novel is set in Genoa in early 1815.  It was published posthumously in 1925.
