About This Item
Burroughs, 1936. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. Tarzana, California: Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. Publishers, [1936], 1936. Octavo, pp. [1-4] 5-315 [316: blank] [317: ads] [318-320: blank], five inserted plates with illustrations by J. Allen St. John, original blue cloth, front and spine panels stamped in orange, top edge stained red. First edition. Eighth book of the Mars series. Heins SwM-1. A very good first edition (so stated on the copyright page) in a nearly fine first state (laminated) dust jacket. A nice example of this jacket featuring a fine four-color wraparound illustration reproducing a painting by J. Allen St. John. The original price of $2 is still present on the front flap of the jacket. For some reason most jackets for this title are price-clipped. Superior copies of this book are uncommon.
