Pierce. Pages with dampstains, foxing and age-toning. Inner and top margins occasionally a little close and rarely clipped, but margins otherwise nice and wide. Bound in matching later red buckram with gilt title, location and date to spine and new endpapers. Pierce was the first Bishop of Arkansas and one of the clergy deputies to the Meeting of Bishops, Clergymen, and Laymen, of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Confederate States at Montgomery, Ala., on July 3-6, 1861, and a member of the committee that drafted the Constitutions and Cannons of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Confederate States.
