[San Francisco c1877], Choynski Antiquarian. Original tinted lithograph, 9-1/2 x 12-1/2 inches, very good. FIRST & ONLY EDITION The lithograph shows the notorious anti-Chinese orator, Dennis Kearney, behind the bars in the House of Correction, with six Chinese taunting him, most of the Chinese carrying symbols of common Chinese employments in the San Francisco of the day: one carries cigars (and smokes one), one carries a washboard and holds up a sock with a hole in its heel, one sits on a basket of [?], one stands in front of a basket of fish, holding two crabs in one hand, and a fish pierced by stick in the other, the fish labelled "Black Friday." All the Chinese wear queues. The last sentence of the title refers to Kearney's battle cry, "The Chinese Must Go!" .
