About This Item

Romae, Ex officina typographica Francisci Gonzagae in Via lata, , [1714.]. 1714 Folio. xliv, 115, [14] p. 47 plates. First edition. Contemporary calf, rubbed but sound. Rebacked at some time and the old label re-laid. Title page with an engraved vignette of a dissection scene. As usual this copy doesn't have the unnumbered plate of a graduated scale which was intended to be cut out. A few signs of use and occasional faint spotting. Damp mark in the blank margins, mostly towards the end of the volume. Small closed tear at the foot of the final Index leaf. A large, unpressed copy. Overall a good copy in sound useable condition. The plates were produced in the 1550s from Eustachi's drawings but most remained unpublished until rediscovered in the early 18th century when this edition appeared with Lancini's notes.
