1945. Takal, Peter. (Takal, Peter). TAKAL - SELECTED WORKS by Edouard Roditi (Translator). International University Press, NY, 1945. Sq. 4to., stiff paper portfolio containing 2 paper folders, each, in turn with loose sheets, as issued. A "window" (c. 4 x 4 inches) in the face of the portfolio, reveals a vignette protected by a glassine sheet (original). Part I, Drawings; 28 plates of ink drawings, in facsimile; Part II "Images a Faire Mourir les Sirenes de Nostalgie" a text in French by Takal, with 18 accompanying illustrations and a separate brochure with Roditi's translation of the text. One of 333 numbered copies signed by Takal in ink on the Justification sheet (the total edition of 395 copies included 3 colored by hand, and with an original drawing, 33 also hand colored and with an orginal etching, and 25 cpoies hors de commerce). Also laid in is a brochure from Duveen for an exhibition of Takal's drawings, with a list of works and some illustrations. An unusual and early Takal item. There are some breaks at the seam of the lower portfolio flap, else a Fine copy.
