After leaving the University of Glasgow he published anonymously three poems: Helen of the Glen, The Persecuted Family, and Ralph Gemmell. After Pollok's death in 1833, these would be published together under his name as Tales of the Covenanters. History in told as a tale interspersed with poems, biographical sketch of Author to first part. CONDITION Brown cloth (soiled, loss top third of spine cloth which has been rebacked) pp xxxviii 20 - 344 with portrait frontis, illus title page, 3 engraved illus with clean tissue guards. Mostly bright and crisp internally, with damp stain effecting title page and frontis illus and rear of 2 other illus, gutter split to paper at eps though mull tight, name to title page. . 4th Edition. Hard Cover. Good/N/A. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
