About This Item
Cassell, 1891. Cloth. Good+/No Jacket. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. The Decameron refers to an imagined ten 10 day period of retirement by seven fashionable women and three fashionable men who withdrew from a plaque ravaged town to a beautiful garden some miles distant. While there they amused themselves telling tales. Boccaccio uses this scenario to link tales from fourteenth century Florence where he lived. This volume includes 18 selections. Book has some scuffing and edge wear and stains but generally in very sound condition.
