Large 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" design. Maroon cloth boards, gilt cover and spine titles, moderate shelf wear, rub. Cover features subtly colored mounted plate surrounded by gilt border of struggling individual clutching at his head as he stares off to infinity. Heavy stock deckled pages, very good, clean. Features seven haunting tales accompanied by seven darkly macabre color plates by Ernest L. Blumenschein. Antiquarian inscription inside cover: "Shirley Inez McNeil, from Father, Aug. 1913".
