Edinburgh: Adam & Charles Black 1888, new edition. (Hardcover) 1202pp. Very good, no dust jacket. Burgundly cloth with gilt decoration and gilt lettering. All edges gilt, coated yellow endpapers, frontispieces with tissue guards, vignette title-pages, notes, table, index, folding color map. The edges and corners are lightly worn, vol. 1 is a little cocked, there is a previous owner's paper glued to the front endpaper of vol. 1, there are some notes neatly written in fountain pen at the end of vol. 2, and a few minor notes in pencil. Introduction by Frederic William Farrar. Locale:. (History--Scotland).
