Considered to be one of the great literary classics of Japan, this tenth century work of poems and prose reveals the intrigues of ancient aristocratic Japan. Arihara no Narihira is considered to be the author of many of the poems. 247 pp. Contains 16 black and white illustrations of authentic woodblock prints. Handsome rice paper and cloth binding. Rubbed spot 1/4" to bottom edge of rear cover, faintest soiling to bottom edge of pages barely noticeable. Minor age tanning to top edge of dust jacket, inside bottom corner of dust jacket is clipped.
