About This Item

UK,12mo HB+dw/dj,Collector's Edition,illustrated,1st edn thus. [Originally first published in Swedish as 'Det osynliga barnet och andra berattelser' (The Invisible Child and other stories'),1962. First English publication by Ernest Benn Ltd., (London),1963. The 7th book in the 'Moomins' series by Finnish author Tove Jansson. Unlike all the other books, which were novels,it is a collection of 9 short stories, the longest book in the series. This Collector's Edition by Sort of Books,2018, is one of the 8 titles in this particular issue.] FINE-/NMINT. No owner inscrptn and no price-clip to dw/dj.Bright,crisp,clean,matt,colour pictorial artwork by Tove Jansson, illustrated dw/dj panels with author's capitalised, orange-lettered name and capitalised, pale pink- lettered title to front of dw/dj.A pale pink spine/backstrip with capitalised,white-lettered title and author's capitalised, pale yellow-lettered name and publisher's pale blue+white-lettered illustrated colophon to foot of same, rear panel of dw/dj with a different colour, pictorial illustration.Negligible shelf-wear to edges and corners – no nicks, tears or splits present.Top+fore-edges bright, crisp and clean without any ageing/toning or foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound – near pristine - one top corner folded tip crease to pp19/20 and preceding pp15-18 inclusive, also with identical top corner crease but opened and flattened leaving residual concomitant faint creases - no other intentional or otherwise dog-ear reading creases present to any other pages' corners, unread other than my own collation.Publisher's bright,crisp,clean/unblemished,sharp-cornered,original plain maroon cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked white ink Little MY and the Invisible Child silhouettes to upper board and blocked white-lettered spine/backstrip,and immaculate endpapers with orange illustrated Moomin characters to either.UK,12mo HB+dw/dj, illustrated,Collector's Edition,1st edn thus,15-199pp [paginated] includes 9 short stories with some full-page b/w drawings, the majority though, are thumbnail /part-page illustrations throughout; plus as last pages, [unpaginated] information about Tove Jansson's Moomin books + Moomin picture book's details, sequence and synopses of same etc.,a list of Jansson's books for adults with a reproduced blurb of Kaye Webb's introduction in the original Puffin edition,to it's reverse. Visually, the external appearance is exceptional, and even internally is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of it's nature, i.e. a children's book. It is only the minimal fault described that prevents a slightly higher grading overall.Despite that,it really is still an exceptional, exemplary example for it's brightnesss, cleanliness and lack of other child or age-acquired detracting faults commonly encountered in children's book. Please contact the seller, particularly ALL overseas buyers, for correct, insured or uninsured at own risk, shipping/P+p quotes BEFORE placing your order, especially if ordering any multiple. N.B.
