Orchid-coloured cloth, silver nude front cover & spine lettering (slightly bowed, very slight shelfwear), w/ d.j. vivid Art Deco cover art of nude seated amidst flowered plants (couple very minor closed tears, very slight shelfwear), VG/VG copy. First edition, thus, of this group of gaily wicked poems embellished and retold in Rabelaisian verse by La Fontaine, including an unexpurgated seelection including the famous paraphrases of Boccaccio’s “The Nightingale” and “The Devil in Hell.” Titles in Godwin’s “Famous Classics of Love” series in original dustjackets are quite scarce.
