About This Item

London: Abacus, 1990. Reprint. Paperback. Very Good. This book resulted from a BBC radio series where Allen collected the recollections of fifty British men and women who went out East, mainly to Malaya, to seek their fortunes in the 1920s and 1930s. Although some Malaysians were interviewed, the story is told mainly by British expatriates. The book doesn't attempt to deal with the political issues surrounding colonialism but rather with what this mixed group of people made of life in the tropics. 319 pages. Weight 0.50 Kg. Postage within Malaysia is free. The text block is tanned. The binding is tight, the text is clear and there is mild tanning throughout.
