About This Item

(Summerville, SC: Self-published, 1976). 1st ed., 1976. Illustrations by E. Charlsie Vorwerk. 8vo. 54 pp. Original printed blue stapled wrappers. INSCRIBED to Bill Starr on the front free endpaper by Wilder: "In grateful appreciation." Also laid in are two Autograph Letters Signed from Wilder to Bill Starr. The first dated September 8, 1998 is 20 lines and reads, in part, "Dear Mr. Starr: Bless you for making my little book the feature of your book page last Sunday. You made this old lady's day! I couldn't ask for a more generous or enthusiastic review. . ." The second letter dated Novemer 3, 1999 is 17 lines and reads, in part, "You did it again! I'm grateful to you for a review that was thoughtful, generous, and a delight to this Poor Old Soul. I can't read a word I'm writing. I hope you can. . ." By this point, Wilder had obviously lost most of her sight. Bill Starr, author and reviewer, has been at the very forefront for over three decades of advancing Southern Literature, first as Book Review Editor for The State in Columbia, SC for which he wrote hundreds of insightful, intelligent reviews for both emerging as well as established writers, and more recently as the Executive Director of Georgia Center for the Book in Decatur, GA. Fine. A wonderful author-reviewer association of a minor South Carolina poet.. Inscribed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Soft cover. As New.
