Good-, front outer hinge gutter almost completely split, fraying to top of spine with some loss, foxing to the illustrated vignette title-page. Purple turned brownish cloth with embossed geometrical design. Ads at rear state that this book is "nearly ready" indicating this to be the earlier printing of November 1863.
