Of the many religious orders in the Middle Ages and Renaissance devoted to nursing and to the care of the mentally ill, only the congregation of the Alexian Brothers has survived into the twentieth century. Originating on the fringes of medieval society their ministry developed to assist plague victims, nurse the dying and bury the dead, later to attend the incurably insane. A clean very presentable copy in a Brdart mylar jacket.
