About This Item
Harper & Row. New York. 1976. Quarter-bound in navy blue with yellow paper boards and gilt lettering on front and spine. Fine third edition inscribed, for obvious reasons, in purple, on flyleaf. Go Vikings! Fair pictoral jacket is clipped and has shelf wear, minor chipping to margins and paper loss to upper and lower spine of jacket. First-team all SEC at the University of Georgia, he was drafted into the NFL in 1961. Playing for 18 season, primarily with the Vikings he was the NFL Most Valuable Player of the Year in 1975. Many will recall his style of play: "I scramble because I'm good at it, because I can twist and dodge those big pass rushers better than most guys, and we get a lot of touchdowns that way". How true that was (342 TDs in his career). He later went on to be a commentator on Monday Night Football. He also founded a Software (computer-program generator) company call Tarkenton Software. 6.5x9.5 in. 274 pg.
