John Henry O'Hara was an American writer. O'Hara was a keen observer of social status and class differences, and wrote frequently about the socially ambitious. His novel, Ten North Frederick, won the National Book Award in 1956. This exemplary novel chronicles the life of Joe Chapin. Set in the fictional town of Gibbsville, Pennsylvania, Joe Chapin is an attorney and pillar of his community. He is intent on becoming the President of the United States.
