Spine ends a bit shelf worn, prior owner's name on second free endpaper, small old bookstore label at bottom of rear pastedown. Binding, text block and photographic plates all tight and clean. Frontispiece of Colonel George E. Waring Jr. Riis's "account of the battle with the slum in New York" includes essays on tenement house blight, and the genesis of gangs.
