About This Item
1879. CONDER, Claude Reignier. TENT WORK IN PALESTINE. A Record of Discovery and Adventure. Published for the Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund. In Two Volumes. New Edition. London: Richard Bentley & Son, 1879. Wood-engraved illustrations by J. W. Whymper. xxvi,381; viii,352 pp. Octavo, green cloth, gilt-stamped title on spine, title printed in black with a gilt-stamped vignette on upper board, brown coated endpapers. This is a mixed set with Vol. I. (only) being ex-library and having all of the usual marks. Both bindings show general moderate soiling and edgewear and have hinges starting. Bookblock of Vol. II. is nearly split at the center. Text leaves are mostly clean but for the odd spot of light foxing or pencil underlining. A good and serviceable reading copy of a title that commands a much higher price in better condition.
