Terre Adélie Groenland 1947-1955 - Expéditions Polaires Françaises. Published by Arthaud in 1956. Softcover with dustjacket. First edition. 151 pages. 4to. Includes: illustrations, photos, maps and text as well as original obi. (belly band.) Signed on half-title "Paul E. Victor". Used Good. Softcover with dustjacket. Both in good condition. Dust jacket has edge wear and small tears to edges. Dust jacket is also "enhanced" by a removable belly band which has a small tear (see photo.) Wraps are somewhat age toned along edges. Interior Good. Sound binding. The ownership inscription of William E. Davies and acquisition date appear at top right corner of front wrap. From the personal library of William E. Davies (1917-1990), USGS (United States Geological Survey) geologist, polar explorer, and recipient of the Antarctic Medal from US Congress. His work took him to Greenland, Alaska, the Appalachian Mountains and caves of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, and in Antarctica - where the Davies Escarpment is named after him; his bibliography contains more than 200 titles.
