About This Item

Brooklyn: The Objectivist Press, 1948. First Edition. Burgundy cloth, stamped in gilt; 8vo. 165 pp. Inscribed "For Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rose with the kindest regards of Celia, Paul and Louis Zukofsky/ 9/25/52". Given the inscription it is easy to presume that this was the great American cellist's copy. A near fine copy in a complete and very lightly worn and stained dust jacket, the only real flaw the ubiquitous toning of the extremities. An early book, uncommon signed, and rarely found in this condition; and a nice association as Celia was a musician and composer, influencing much of her husband's work and setting some to music; their son Paul would became a famous avant garde violinist and conductor, collaborating with John Cage and Philip Glass, among others.
