On Jun 16 2018, a reader said:
An historic classic! Read and enjoyed by Jewish families in shtetles and the Lower East Side of New York. If you've any affection for "Fiddler on the Roof", you'll recognize scenes as you read this book. It pulls you back into the time of Ukranian Jews before the ultimate Russian Revolution. The author's sense of humor is unique. Not so good sometimes in how he denigrates women, but that was a reflection of the times. The joy of the Sabbath kept folks going. Very touching how Tevye relates to the author. - - I bought it with marks and notes from a previous reader. I didn't mind, since I needed to do the same for purposes of my own study. Glad I bought this!
