A fairly sharp, crisp copy with just a bit of smudging on the front cover and a bit of sunning to the top of the rear cover; contemporary bookseller's ticket inside the front cover; contents are clean. Nevins describes this as "[t]he abridged letters (1862-1865) of Dr. Edward W. Cade, whose service as a brigade surgeon was in teh Trans-Mississippi department" CWB I, 51. Dornbusch II, 2633.
