About This Item
Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1995. edited by Tadataka Yamada with David H. Alpers, Chung Owyang, Don W. Powell and Fred E. Silverstein Second Edition, second printing Blue 4to size hardcovers with gilt titles and red decorations on covers and spine; heavyweight glossy pages. This set weighs in at more than 18 pounds boxed. Volume 1: 1,554 pages with black and white illustrations, charts and photographs. There are also some color photographs in a section in the front of the book. The index is paginated separately: there are 151 additional pages to the index. The Table of Contents includes both volumes and is repeated in both volumes. The very extensive Table of Contents include: Part One: Basic Mechanisms of Normal and Abnormal Gastrointestinal Function Part Two: Approaches to Common Gastrointestinal Problems Part Three: Gastrointestinal Diseases There is some "waviness" to the rear endpage working forward to about page 24 in the index (of decreasing waviness.) This appears to be due to storage; we see no evidence of water damage. This waviness is also seen in the front end paper and first two dozen or so pages in the front of the book. Head and heel of spine are bumped and there is a little rubbing to titles on front cover. Volume 2: pagination continues from Volume 1, totalling 3,065 pages with black and white illustrations, charts and photographs. There is no color section in this volume. The index is paginated separately: there are 151 additional pages to the index. The Table of Contents includes both volumes and is repeated in both volumes. The very extensive Table of Contents include: Part Three: Gastrointestinal Diseases (continued) Part Four: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Modalities in Gastroenterology Pages xvii and xix were not cut properly at the bottom and there is a small overhang which could be trimmed away. Head and heel of spine are bumped; there is a tiny abrasion to the right side of front cover; there are three small impressions or punctures on back cover and two small much shallower impressions; there is some light scratching on back cover and a small, light spot on the barcode on the bottom of back cover. Creased half title page has left impressions on following few pages. There are no markings or highlighting in the text.
