About This Item

Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, 1943. 1st Edition. No Binding. Near Fine. 9.25" x 11" Blue card box, [31] halftone illustrated plates of ambiguous people in questionable social situations. Lacking manual, but full fun of plates. Plates about fine. Box in very good condition with some sunning and wear to extremities, tears to corners repaired with tape, one side of lid lacking. Orig. price to box lid crossed out with black marker. Meant to be a display of one's subconscious, the TAT helped doctors distinguish underlying issues the patient may struggle with, such as personal problem solving, social cognition or defense mechanisms, from a psychoanalytic perspective. It has appeared in popular fiction as Thomas Harris' Red Dragon and A Clockwork Orange.
