Slight rubbing and browning to jacket (chiefly at extremities); else a near fine copy as issued. vii, [1], 103, [1] pages + plates. Concentration on the developments in England during the late 18th and early 19th centuries (to about 1840); notable for reproductions of works by Henry Alken, William Gilpin, Paul Sandby, Thomas Rowlandson, and others. Includes bibliographical references and index. One of 500 copies (the entire edition), printed at Cambridge University Press, with the color plates being printed at the Curwen Press. Additional relevant material (including publisher's 6-page prospectus) present.16 Color Illustrations / Plates; b/w Decorations (headpieces).
