About This Item

This is a very good minus hardcover copy, lacking the dust jacket. The binding is tight, but it earns its minus for rubbing at the corners leading to exposed board and wear on the spine. The front free end paper has an inscription.

Du Gard, Roger Martin. The Thibaults. New York: The Viking Press, 1939 edition, translated from the French by Stuart Gilbert, 871 pp., cloth.

This novel was key in winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1937 for its author.
