About This Item
The third in a series of books meant "to be placed in the hands of the young people themselves", as a way of opening their minds to the simple humanity of music. It includes chapters on Brahms, Cesar Franck, Tchaikovsky, Shakespeare the Musician, Clavichord-Harpsichord-Pianoforte, British Music, Sterndale Bennett. There is also a little dictionary of British composers of the early 20th century. Includes plentiful illustrations. First published in 1923, this is the 7th edition. It is a slim hardback volume with blue boards and is in good aged condition, with some tanning of pages. The dustjacket has blue and white portraits on a striped orange and white background, and is well worn with tears and soiling. Previous owner's name and phone number inscribed in blue ink inside front cover. Please see photos.
