About This Item

UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,Omnibus,1st edn thus.[Complete number line 1 3 5 7 9 8 6 4 2.Last Bus to Woodstock, The Wench is Dead, The Jewel That Was Ours were all originally and first published by Macmillan in 1975, 1989,and 1991 respectively. This omnibus published with corrections in 1993.] No owner inscrptn but a price-clip to dw/dj. Bright, crisp, clean, glossy, colour photographic illustrated front panel with capitalisedblue+red lettering, reddish spine/backstrip with thumbnail colour photograph from front and capitalised white lettering, rear panel with critics' whit-lettered reviews.Negligible shelf-wear, bumping, creasing to edges and corners - no nicks, tears or splits present.Top+fore-edges bright and clean without foxing/spotting; contents bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips - appears unread, other than my own collation.publisher's bright,crisp,unblemished,shrp-cornered,original plain maroon cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked silver gilt lettered spine/backstripand innaculate plain white endpapers.UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,Omnibus,1st edn thus,4-530pp [paginated] includes 3 full-length novels; plus [unpaginated] half-title+ title pages, contents list/table,individual title separator pages and to the rear 8pp blanks.
Visually the exterior appearance is exceptional, and even internally, the book is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation for a book of it's 30 year age. It is only the exterior fault described that prevents a slightly higher grading for the dw/dj. Despite that,it really is an exceptional copy for its cleanliness and brightness. Omnibus containing 3 full-length murder mysteries, each featuring the popular fictional detective,Inspector Morse and his faithful sidekick,Sergeant Lewis. Since the publication of Colin Dexter's first novel - 'Last Bus to Woostock.' - in 1975 Chief Inspector morse and Sergeant Lewis haave been aclaimed as crime fiction's most popular parnership. Now 'Last Bus to Woodstock' introduces 'The Third Inspector Morse Omnibus',which also includes the Gold Dagger winner,'The Wench is Dead' and 'The Jewel That Was Ours': a brain-teasing delight from first page to last.
In 'Last Bus to Woodstock' the brutal murder of a young girl makes headline news in the Oxford Mail. But as Morse and Lewis conduct their investigation in the full glare of the media spotlight Morse watches his obvious leads fade into darkness - and suddenly realizes that only passion can hold the key to Sylvia Kaye's violent death. 'The Wench is Dead' opens dramatically when Inspector Morse is rushed semi conscious to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital with a perforated ulcer. As he begins his recovery Morse comes across an account of a murder committed over a hundred years before - and becomes convinced that the two men hanged for killing Joanna Franks had to be innocent. But still confined to his hospital bed Morse must depend on Sergeant Lewis to prove it. . .
The sudden death of an elderly Ameican tourist in 'The Jewel That Was Ours' marks the beginning of an especially frustrating and complex case for Inspector Morse. For not even Sergeant Lewis believes his superior's theories about what exactly happened to Laura Stratton in Room 310 at the Randolph Hotel.Until both Morse and Lewis are summoned to the banks of the River Cherwell to view a naked and battered corpse. . .
