New York: The Viking Press, Inc., 1929 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. First American Edition. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Original red cloth over boards with gilt lettering and decoration. Spine sunned. The essays in this book were selected by Edward Garnett. He also wrote the Introduction. The author was a Scottish writer, politician, journalist and adventurer. His close friends included Joseph Conrad, George Bernard Shaw, John Galsworthy, and G.K. Chesterton. Graham was a Socialist with strong opinions, including being anti-colonialism. He also advocated for universal suffrage and an eight-hour work day. 354 pp. .
