Book Condition: Good; slightly sunfaded spine; light wear to board bottoms and tail from shelving. DJ: Fair; NOT price clipped; sunfaded spine cover; chipping and missing small pieces along top rear edge and spine cover top. Green cloth boards with bright gilt lettering and banding on spine and title in gilt on front board. Tinted textblock top. Fold-out map in place. 336 pp 8vo. The author, a Czech by birth, decided to seek his fortune in the Far North, traveled by wagon across the wilds of Siberia, then on a whaling ship up to the Arctic Circle. He tells of his journey, and of how he became a successful trader, with his HQ in a commodious cave on the rocky coast of New Siberia, and island in the Arctic Ocean where he lived for over thirty years. A clean presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
