About This Item
New York: Lyons & Burford, Publishers. Near Fine in Near Fine dj. (c.1993). First Edition. Hardcover. [tiny dent in top edge of front cover, slight fading to cloth along bottom edge of front cover, no other significant wear; jacket shows just a trace of surface wear, with a tiny faint stain near the upper left corner of the front panel]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED (in a lovely calligraphic hand) and SIGNED by the author (and another) on the front endpaper, thus: "for Steve - Eydie / Merry Christmas / 1993 / from / Frank Military / and / David Douglas Duncan." The renowned photographer tells the story, in photos and text, of his beloved German shepherd, chronicling "with respect and affection, the noble, heroic world of Thor's ancestors, his immense capacity for love, his zest, his growing maturity, and what the author calls his 'Olympian serenity.'" The inscribees/recipients were the musical duo of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé; the other "presenter," Frank Military (not to be confused with the currently active actor-writer), was a longtime music industry producer-executive. Signed by Author .
