About This Item

New York, Toronto & Edinburgh: Thomas Nelson & Sons, 1961. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. The interior of the book is crisp and clean. There is a gift inscription to the first owner ("prize for the most practicing in the music contest, June 2, 1961") on the front free end paper, but no other marks. The yellow covers are fresh, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners. The dust jacket is also in very good condition, with light edgewear and darkening to the spine and paper of the back panel. The attached scan gives a better idea of condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: "Alan and Cathie Stewart resent being shipped off to an Alberta ranch for their vacation. . But the excitement began as soon as their father had put them on the train, when a runaway boy urged them to help him escape from the police. His name was Thorny, he said, and he'd done nothing wrong; so the Stewarts ran interference for him when he left the day coach. They never expected to see him again. At the ranch there was plenty to thrill a pair of young American tenderfeet; spirited ponies to ride, a rodeo to practice for with their cousin heather and Danny Bearspaw, an Indian boy, and a tall tale of a dinymusk wa-wa, a mysterious prehistoric animal, to investigate. Then, by chance, Alan stumbled on another mystery - a tree-house hidden in a half-dead forest beyond the muskeg swamp. Who lived there? Could it be Jerry Peters, the fugitive wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police? . No one could know the answer to all these questions until the race for the silver spurs was won at the Bronco Hills Rodeo.
