Harold Alfred Manhood (1904-1991) was a British author best known for his short stories, often with supernatural undertones and themes. Despite a body of acclaimed work, Manhood did not pursue fame in the literary world, but chose instead to hide away in the English countryside near Sussex. During this time, Manhood lived in a converted railway car, growing his own food and brewing cider
