About This Item
Boston: Little Brown, 1917. Later printing. Hardcover. Fine/very good. Slim hardcover in grey paper covered boards letter in brown over brown cloth spine. 58 pp. A World War I parable in which class pride, unbelief in the Christian God, and race prejudice "..grew like rank weeds in the fair garden of Philip Landicutt's virtues..." causing a rift with his mother and driving him to throw himself in the war in defense of Belgium. In the trenches he lost his class prejudice, when wounded he found God, and whie in the firld hospital found that humanity is greater than races. A tight, fine example.
