Very good + hardcover shows bumping to bottom corner of front cover, couple of tiny rub tears to bottom edges and at hinge next to spine tail and with some oither light trace wear, else tight and clean, in very good dust jacket (price at flap) that shows rubbing and soil along with edgewear thta includes wrinkling, closed tears and tiny open chips. 553 pages with black & whites and index. Solid copy in jacket of this "..lively piece of scholarship pursued with extraordinary patience and imagination and written with wit and wisdom.
